The Washington Post thinks the Caps have major decisions to make at trade deadline

If there was any doubt before, there should be none now. It's always been about the players.

From the outside, there doesn't appear to be a strong leader in the Capitals' dressing room. Players used words like "embarrassing" after Monday's defeat. But what was said in the room before the game? Between periods of a contest that featured everything but the Capitals waving a white flag? http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/capitals/on-hockey-as-buyers-or-sellers-capitals-should-be-active-at-trade-deadline/2012/02/21/gIQAxrBTRR_story_1.html

Shacks' Take: The Washington Capitals are a chemistry experiment gone terribly wrong.  They have an abundance of talent that when mixed together becomes a nauseous gas.  There's no doubt GM George McPhee needs to change the mix and change it now.  The Capitals are still very much in the playoff mix and the right combination of players could still make a run, just not this combination.

McPhee has some outstanding pieces to keep and to trade and he should so everything in his power to change the mix on this failed experiment starting with finding a new home for Alexander Semin. He would likely make for addition by subtraction all on his own but the bounty he could bring back will also help change the toxicity of the room.
