For Canucks GM Mike Gillis, who has unswervingly allowed the soup to simmer to near perfection in Vancouver, the most difficult moment has arrived: After all that patient building, and a trip as far as you can go without ordering the rings a year ago, the time for patient building has ended in Vancouver.
It is time to gather all the assets and get them on the ice. It is time to trade goaltender Cory Schneider. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2012/02/01/canucks_trade_deadline_schneider_spector/
Shacks' Take: Spector is another columnist who thinks Lui is a good enough goalie to take Vancouver all the way. Again I say, what if he's wrong? Vancouver has every non-depth player signed for next year except Salo, Raymond & Schneider. I say keep Schneider this year as Lui insurance and if it doesn't work, trade Schneids for that missing piece. If Luongo's head goes missing, the Canucks have insurance. Schneider isn't Vancouver's only asset and until Lui proves he's ready to step up when it counts most, he's one Vancouver still needs.
Trade Hodgson and a couple draft picks to Jet's for Dustin! I think Jets would go for that. Add one more guy somehow (Malone) and Canucks will have check list filled. Loungo cannot be trusted, we have to keep Shneider.

Oh I agree. If you get a few minutes, read my Article for Canuck Fans. It explains my thoughts on that very subject in depth.
