Shacks' Take: Funny thing, I remember this exact thing happening to the old Vancouver Grizzies in LA stopping the Grizz from what would have been their only victory in LA. Not surprisingly, there is no video evidence.
Obviously, the clock stopped with 1.8 seconds left just before Drew Doughty scored with .4 of a second left. Hometown advantage? Absolutley. I'm one that believes in conspiracy theories, somewhat. I think when a call goes to the Toronto head office for a review the league makes decisions based as much on who the league wants to succeed to further the growth of the game as what the actual call should be. The clock clearly paused. This obviously was to the advantage of the Los Angeles Kings. Which team would the league prefer to succeed? Hmmm. I'm not so far gone to think the league actually fixes games but I do think the league will use it's office to help the marquee franchises when the opportunity arises. This was such a case. I really wonder what would have happened if this has been reversed. I doubt Columbus would have gotten that same call. I'm just sayin…
