Early Review of the TSN & Sportsnet Trade Deadline Shows

The over the top trade deadline coverage is officially awesome this year.  TSN's panel consists of host James Duthie with analysts Marc Crawford, Aaron Ward and Mike Johnson; they have their 'Trade Breakers' Darren Millard, Gord Miller and Bob McKenzie and their 'Standing Panel?' Geon Reda with Craig Button and Mike Pica.  They also have their Pierre's via separate satellite feeds from ESPN studios in Connecticut, Lebrun and Maguire and reporters following every Canadian team.

Meanwhile Sportsnet has three panel desks of their own the first their main desk Darren Millard with analysts Marty McSorley, Damien Cox and Bill Jaffe, a news breaker desk consisting of Christine Simpson as host with Nick Kypreos, Bruce Garioch and Scotty Morrison as well as their west coast desk with Don Taylor, Brad May and Gary Valk.

The best wrinkle of the morning is Sportsnet's  'Strategy Room', which includes ex GM's, Pat Quinn, Neil Smith and Doug Mclean with ex-owner Brian Lawton, discussing the mechanics behind trades that happened during their tenures.

TSN has Jay Onrait at home in his robe and various TSN personality t-shirts and coffee mugs live blogging the event. Dan O'Toole is also there for some comedy.

My early impression is TSN's coverage might be funnier but the 'Strategy Room' form Sportsnet is the coolest wrinkle of the day.  Anytime you get a chance to listen to Pat Quinn tell trade stories you listen.

I'm going to try and break down the trades as they happen and keep a running total of which station has the better insiders by reporting the deals first.  Stay tuned!
