Harrison Mooney thinks Canucks are playing soft by design

Vancouver hockey fans rarely reach a consensus on anything, but I think we all agree that the Canucks looked unmotivated and disinterested on Monday night in Minnesota.

It was the Canucks’ 7th loss in 10 games, leading the cynics — who see everything as a conspiracy (including the rhetoric of any suspected non-cynics) — to freak. Some called for Alain Vigneault’s head once again, claiming the team had tuned him out, that his time here was done, and that the team should fire their coach 10 games from the postseason.

Level-headed thinking is not the strong suit of this pocket of Canuck nation.  More…
Okay I admit my man crush
despite recent criticism.
Shacks’ Take: Again a little calm in a sea of panic. This is why despite our recent ‘disagreement’, the boys at Bulis remain the go-to place for Canuck news.  They have the irreverent comedy that is the mainstay of good blogs but it’s their hockey knowledge that pushes them to a different level, especially when compared to the local media which seems to lack any sense of perspective.
Mooney makes an excellent point here, Vancouver is just not prepared to sacrifice any part of their bodies at this point and that makes it very difficult to win.  When the team you face is willing to throw whatever body part is necessary at you and you’re not even willing to throw you’re little pinky in the way, it gives your opponent a huge advantage.
Now that I’ve thoroughly kissed ass (although true), I will point out that it seems slightly odd to think it’s okay to lose games because you’re not willing to get hurt but it’s not okay to lose games to give your star players a little security.  I am anxiously awaiting Mooney’s response to my Canuck criticism because I honestly don’t see the down-side, but I’m willing to listen.  Mr. Mooney you there?
