Gord McIntyre thinks we shouldn’t forget to rip Edler as well

Rip the Sedins all you want for combining for a mere point the past eight games, make fun of Roberto Luongo’s McSofties, tear into Ryan Kesler for his uneven goal production, send out a search party for the Canucks’ power play.
Go ahead.
But don’t spare Alex Edler your scorn.
You can’t say his picture is on a milk carton because rather than having disappeared, he’s making mistakes that are glaring.  More…

Is it time to get Jyrki out of retirement to bolster the defense
 down the stretch?

Shacks’ Take:  In many ways Gord’s right, Edler has looked less than his usual stellar self lately.  He’s getting caught up ice, his decision making without the puck has been spotty at best and he keeps allowing guys to beat him off the rush on the outside.
Fortunately, he has lots of time to get his groove back.  It would be surprising if Edler had forgotten how to play defense and just as surprising if he continued this play for another month.  It seems the whole team is struggling and pressing which has combined for terrible play.  I still think most of Vancouver’s problems stem from a lack of motivation and we’ll see a different team once the playoffs start but it’s hard to convince doubters of that given the visual evidence of late.  Hang in their Canuck fans, things will get better (I hope).
