Did Cody ask for the Trade? Vigneault denies Saturday meeting took place with Cody

The controversy was stoked by Canucks GM Mike Gillis' response to the question on Monday after the trade was announced.
"That's an internal thing and I'm not going to comment," said Gillis on Monday. "There will be speculation that perhaps he did, but things that are discussed behind closed doors in our offices are not for public consumption and I'm not going to discuss it. We've had really good offensive numbers from our team the last two years and Cody is going to continue to develop and be an excellent NHL player." http://blogs.theprovince.com/2012/03/01/vigneault-says-there-was-no-saturday-meeting-with-hodgson/
Shacks' Take: I know I'm going to sound crazy but I'm starting to think Canuck management is trying to make it look like Cody wanted out to take some of the heat off their controversial move to trade him.  If you've read my blog and Canuck Takes, you know I think Cody wasn't in management plans and the Canucks had decided to trade Hodgson at least a couple of weeks before the deadline.  This may be one of several ways management is trying to blunt the impact to fans as they know this was an unpopular decision.  Doesn't it make you feel better about the deal thinking it was Cody that wanted out, not the other way around?
