Tim Tebow will have performed his
last Mile High Miracle if the Denver Broncos
win the race to land Peyton Manning,
Pro Football Network reported Sunday.
A source close to the team said Tebow stands to be
traded upon the arrival of the four-time MVP.
The report claims the Jacksonville
Jaguars are lining themselves up to acquire the unconventional
quarterback, who led the Broncos on a sometimes-improbable run to the AFC West
title last season.
Shacks’ Take: Elway had better hope his pursuit of Manning s
fruitful because he risks alienating his starter Tim Tebow if the pursuit
fails. Elway’s fortunate though, he
knows Denver fans want Tebow to be the starter despite his many shortcomings
but he also knows the Broncos are highly unlikely to win a Super Bowl with a
quarterback that can’t throw a 10 yard out.
Manning is one of very few QB’s in the league Bronco fans would accept
as a replacement for touchdown Timmy. If The Bronco’s get Manning (and they’re
50/50 it appears) there’s no way they can bring Tebow back knowing they
promised him the starting position going into camp. Unfortunately the best thing for Tim’s long
term success might be to sit behind a guy like Manning and learn the position
for a couple of years, it would be hard when you know management lied to you
and doesn’t completely support you. This
is why its very likely Tebow will go home to Jacksonville and his adoring fans
if Denver’s flirtation with Manning becomes a permanent thing.
