Sutter thinks hard work and more shots key to Flames revival

Examples were everywhere, in HD, as Brent Sutter indulged in a bout of channel-surfing while relaxing at home the previous evening.
"I watched the game between Philadelphia and San Jose. A 1-0 hockey game and it was a complete war,'' reported the Calgary Flames' bench boss, with wistful nostalgia, cherished cameo-keepsake memories of bitter battles fought long ago evident in his voice.
"Everything in the offensive zone was directed toward the net. Everyone was crashing the net, whether the puck was in one zone or the other.
George Johnson touched on the real issue here, the Flames lack talent.  They may not be shooting enough but the real issue lies with their lack of top flight NHL players.  Sutter points to the San Jose – Philadelphia game as the way the Flames should be playing but he forgets the most important part to playing like these teams, skilled players.  Philadelphia's centres include Claude Giroux, Brayden Schenn & Sean Couturier. San Jose's include, Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, & Torrey Mitchell.  Calgary? Oli Jokinen and Blair Jones?
I seriously hope Flames management figures out where they're going because as I've mentioned several times before, this is a team who's biggest hope is sneaking in as an 8th seed and hoping to win one round of the playoffs.  Flame fans deserve a concerted effort to achieve more.
