RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- The Seattle Seahawks
are hoping another Green Bay backup turns into their franchise quarterback.
The Seahawks reached agreement Sunday with Matt Flynn
on a three-year deal, bringing one of the most wanted - yet unproven - free
agents to the Pacific Northwest to try and solidify Seattle's QB position.
Flynn has been a career backup in Green Bay, stuck behind All-Pro Aaron Rodgers
- much the way Matt Hasselbeck
was stuck behind Brett Favre
before being acquired by Seattle in 2001.

Seahawk fans hope Flynn is the real deal. |
Shacks’ Take: Despite Flynn’s record
breaking game on the last day of the season for the Packers, I would temper my
expectations for Flynn. His weapons are a little suspect in Seattle compared to
Green Bay as Rice, Williams, Baldwin & Miller don’t even come close to
comparing with Jennings, Nelson, Jones and Finlay.
Also you should never judge an NFL QB until he’s had at least five
games in the league and defensive coordinators a have had a chance to look at
his tape and game plan accordingly. I
like the signing for Seattle, they need someone to step up in sports most
important position and Flynn at least gives ‘Hawks fans hope.
Personally he won’t be on my squad unless he’s backing up one of the
top 5 QB’s. I’d put him outside my top
20 for now.
