CHICAGO — Maybe a visit to the Madhouse on Madison is just what the
Vancouver Canucks need to awaken from their slumber.
Perhaps hearing Jim Cornelison's stirring rendition of the Star Spangled
Banner before Wednesday’s game at the United Center against the Chicago
Blackhawks (5 p.m., TSN, Team 1040) will get their competitive juices flowing.
"It seems like Chicago always brings out the best in us,"
Canucks captain Henrik Sedin said Tuesday.

Is Hamhuis correct about the slump? |
Shacks’ Take: This story is interesting if for no other
reason than a reporter ‘reported’ the news without interjecting the impending
doom that surrounds the Canucks.
It’s interesting to note Hamhuis kind of blew off the slump as a lack of
motivation while Henrik Sedin discussed it in much greater detail.
Sedin’s belief that everyone is pressing because they’re not achieving
the same numbers as last year and the local media’s questions them even when
their win. He feels this makes guys try harder to score when the team falls
behind instead of patiently playing their game.
Or is Hank? |
I personally think it’s a little from column ‘A’ and a little from
column ‘B’. Although I do hope it’s more an internal pressure and the guys
aren’t actually worried about what the local media is saying or we might need a
team wide prescription for Valium to ease the depression.
The boys know they’re struggling and they know they have 10 games to fix
it. I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt for now.
