Ovechkin out of NHL All-Star Game

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Alex Ovechkin is skipping the NHL All-Star game, announcing that decision a day after getting a three-game suspension from the league for a hit on an opponent.

My Take: Further proof Alex Ovechkin doesn't get it.  The NHL is suspending me so I'm taking my puck and stick and going home is what Ovie seems to be saying here.  The Washington Capitols will never win a Cup until Ovechkin realizes he's not bigger than the game.  You would think all the 1st round exits would make Alex want to figure out how to push the team over the top but it doesn't seem to help.  Coach pushing me to play the right way; lollygag til he's fired.  Several league suspensions and fines; jump into the check with your elbow high.  League trying again to teach you a lesson about respect for your fellow player; teach them a lesson, skip the all-star game and leave the NHL without one of it's marquee stars.  Hopefully one day the light goes on and Ovie gets that the game is bigger than him.  Until then Cap fans, hope you like early playoff exits.
