Dreger Claims Jeff Carter “100% in play”

"100% available, though you're right that the contract is going to be a significant issue for most teams who would show interest to get over.  Jeff Carter's a big strong guy; he can play center, can play the wing, he's a potential 40-goal man, so in that regard of course there'd be interest."  www.tsn.ca

Shack's Take: When a team like Philly wants to trade a guy that's scored 40 goals and they've signed to a 10 year $52mil contract the warning lights should have been flashing.  Buyer beware and thus reason #722 why Columbus sucks.  They're going to have to take 75 cents on the dollar to get rid of that contract unless they can convince a team like Detroit or Chicago with cap space that Carter is the last piece they need for a cup run.  Unfortunately, teams like that don't give 10 year contracts to guys like Carter which is why they are among the elite so good luck with that.
