Dreger Thinks Gagner May Be Moved For Defenseman

"Another name you should pay attention to is Sam Gagner of the Edmonton Oilers.  The Oilers aren't shopping him, they're not saying that he is available, but every time Steve Tambellini calls about a defenseman – which we know Edmonton so desperately needs – the name Sam Gagner is thrown out there.  Could be a deadline deal." www.Tsn.ca
Shacks' Take: I love this kind of speculation.  The Oilers have a plethora of excellent young forwards and a couple of decent defenseman.  The quality of the player going out will match the quality coming in.  If they just want a decent defenseman, Gagner likely will be the first out the door.  What if Edmonton gets serious though and wants a Weber or a Suter?  I'll bet it would take a lot more than Sam Gagner.  Would I trade one of the big 3?  Well ask yourself this, how many teams have won the cup in recent years without a 25 minute a game stud controlling things back there?  Miss Pronger much in Edmonton? I'm not saying it will happen, I just think there are many more possibilities than Sam Gagner leaving for a d-man.
