Both championship games ended because of a significant
error by the losing team. Baltimore’s season ended yesterday when Billy Cundiff
missed a kick with seconds left. Meanwhile Kyle Williams of San Francisco two
special teams fumbles including one in overtime leading to Lawrence Tyne’s game
winning field goal cost San Francisco their chance at a 6th Super
Bowl title. It’s an unfortunate by
product of sports that blame is assigned and players lives may never be the
same. Will Cundiff become the next Scott
Norwood? Can Kyle Williams get a fair
shake in San Fran again?
These were two great football games but the likelihood is
they will always be remembered outside Boston & New York as the games
Cundiff and Wiliams lost not the games New York and New Engalnd won. It might seem a shame but that’s the reality
of pro sports. I guess if you don’t want
ignominy put two hands on the football in OT and don’t shank an easy one when
it really counts.
