BOSTON -- The last time Boston Bruins
forward Marc Savard
held a news conference at TD Garden, it was on Feb. 7, 2011, to announce that
his season was over because of post-concussion syndrome. He hasn't played since
Jan. 22, 2011, when he suffered his second concussion in a 10-month period. He
wasn't in Vancouver when his teammates hoisted the Stanley Cup on June 15,
either.
My Take:
If Marc Savard has played his last game in the NHL it’s a darn
shame. You always hope high-level
athletes can retire on their own terms.
Fortunately, Savard is trying to make the best of things and his charitable
work, emphasized by Savvie’s Suite a private box for pediatric patients at
Boston Children’s Hospital is a class move all the way. Here’s hoping the best for Marc Savard
however his hockey future turns out.
